Baptism 1

The Sacrament of Baptism

Baptism is the first Sacrament of Christian initiation.  It is a new beginning – a beginning of Christian life.  Through Baptism we become sons and daughters of God and are embraced into the family of the church and the church community.

Most Catholic families baptised their children soon after birth. However sometimes people are baptised later, or even as adults.

So if you are coming to St Christopher's to receive the Sacrament of Baptism for your child, or for yourself – welcome!

Baptisms are held at St Christopher's every 2nd and 3rd Sunday of each month – following the 9:30am Mass.  Godparents are examples of faith to the child.  They must be confirmed and practicing Catholics and at least sixteen years old.

There must be at least one Catholic godparent, and a non-Catholic may act as a Christian witness.

Baptismal Preparation

Parents must attend a pre-baptismal instruction, which are held on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month at 11:00am in the Parish Hall.

Please contact the parish office on 9825 1679 for further details.
